Querceto di Castellina

Querceto di Castellina is a small family winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico district, near Castellina in Tuscany. The farm produces exclusive releases of Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva in small volumes. These wines are complemented by a modern IGT pure Merlot wine, which received very good press around the world. Their latest release is called Cinque (5) and is a 100% Sangiovese wine.

The farm is located about 450 m above sea level between the municipalities of Castellina and Radda in Chianti. The site is called Querceto Battista and belonged to the family since the early 1940s. The farm covers an area of approximately 117 hectares of which 27 hectares are used for vineyards, all within the Chianti Classico DOCG area.

Calcareous shale soils provide excellent water absorption and the vines grow deep roots. Together with a favourable microclimate, plant density, and low yields this creates complex and elegant wines. The farm has a clear focus on quality, for example all grapes are harvested by hand. New oak barrels are largely used in the production.

Today, Jacopo Di Battista, son of the founder, is the owner and top manager of the winery. Mr Battista’s great interest in fantastic cars is reflected on the wine bottles and in other marketing of Querceto di Castellina.

Visitors to Querceto di Castellina can also enjoy a stay at their very own Agriturisimo.
